Happy Tales: Loki

When Loki, a 3-year-old Chocolate Lab, first arrived at our clinic from the rescue Lending Paws a Hand, it was clear he had been through a lot. He was found wandering as a stray—skinny, scared, and with a heavy chain around his neck that told a quiet story of hardship and neglect. Despite everything, Loki greeted everyone with a wagging tail and a loving heart. It was obvious from the start: this boy had a gentle soul and so much love to give.

After some searching, his previous owners were located, who made the difficult decision to surrender him. Loki had no vaccine history, was severely underweight, and clearly needed a level of care and attention he hadn’t received in a long time. During his visit to HARC, Loki received all his updated vaccines and care treatment for his skin.

With time, patience, and lots of love, Loki began to transform. He started gaining weight, his dull coat began to shine, and that sparkle in his eye returned. Watching him come out of his shell and grow into the happy, healthy pup he was meant to be has been a rewarding experience for all to see.

And now, for the best part—Loki has found his forever home! He’s officially adopted and thriving with his new family, spreading joy everywhere he goes.

Loki is a shining example of what rescue and rehabilitation can do. His story reminds us that every pet deserves a second chance, and with a little help, love always wins.
