Dolly, formerly known as Tankini, is an English bulldog with a vibrant personality. She is stubborn, snorty, and unapologetically in charge. She has the vibe of a diva lounging on a throne, with the soundtrack of heavy breathing and snores. Her favorite thing to do is activate her zoomies around the room to tackle you or take you out at the knees. Yet, despite her demanding nature, she has a loyal heart that yearns for love and companionship.

She was initially dropped off at Durham APS as an overbred mess. She had numerous health issues, including raging skin infections, tail fold infections, yeast infections, and cherry eye. But her life took a turn when she arrived at Neshama Animal Rescue, a nonprofit animal welfare and education organization.

Dolly’s recovery journey at Neshama was a testament to her resilience and strength. She underwent multiple treatments, becoming a frequent flyer at HARC, including several rounds of antibiotics, treatment for skin yeast infections, eye surgery, and removal of an infected skin lesion.  But she never lost her spirit. With unwavering determination, she bounced back after each procedure, acting as if nothing had happened. Our staff admired her courage and fortitude and worked tirelessly to ensure her well-being.

Dolly really needed a Bulldog family – people who understand and appreciate a big Bulldog personality. She found her forever home through a good friend of Neshama. They are a wonderful Bulldog-loving family that goes back generations and already had a special-needs Bulldog named Frank. Everyone in their extended family has bulldogs too! Dolly is now the most famous dog in downtown Raleigh. She holds court on her porch waiting for her subjects to walk by and pay homage to the queen – including her new best friend, the mailman. She is a beautiful soul and brings light and laughter wherever she goes. Congratulations to Dolly and her new family!
